H20, NEW FOUND GLORY, MADBALL Members Team Up In New Project
December 26, 2002H20 frontman Toby Morse, NEW FOUND GLORY guitarist Chad Gilbert, MADBALL singer Freddy Cricien and MADBALL bassist Hoya Roc have teamed up in an as-yet-unnamed new band. A debut album is expected to surface next year.
In related news, Cricien recently spoke to Holland's We'll Make The Difference hardcore e-zine about MADBALL's reunion and plans for the future. According to the singer, "We have many reasons why we've decided to do this again, the main reason being, speaking for Hoya and myself, we are musicians/entertainers. That's who we are. That's what we love. Music and MADBALL is especially important to us. It's been a big part of our lives and we miss it! What can I say? We had a change of heart. We're always listening to people tell us you ended too soon, that you guys are young, and you start to wonder maybe there right! Maybe MADBALL still has a lot more to offer to the music world. We'll see. Plus the hardcore scene's been sleeping lately. Somebody's got to WAKE IT UP!"
With regards to the group's split, Freddy said, "The reason for the break-up was a combination of personal emotions and legal issues pertaining to myself. Me and Hoya are just sick of a lot of the problems surrounding the band at the time: line up problems that killed the momentum and also my legal bullshit. Maybe the decision was a bit irrational but at the time we felt strongly about it. We were disgusted and bitter about a lot of things not towards each other just everything else. We are both very proud and maybe that was a factor also. But who cares?! We're back and I think that time off helped us clear our heads and realize what it is we want to do with ourselves!"
